Many of the things in our daily lives are madeto be used with the right hand, such as subway 1)turnstiles, computer mice, cameras, and scissors. However, on August 13, lefties can raise their left handsin pride because it is Left-Handers' Day, the one day when right is wrong. Whether you are left-handed or not, visit the Left-Handers' Day website andlearn how to participate in this unique holiday. Each side of the body is connected to the opposite side of the brain. Right-handers favor the left side of the brain, the part which is used for writing, science, math, and logic. Lefties favor the right side of the brain, whichcontrols creativity, imagination, emotions, and 4)spatial awareness. No wonderleft-handedness is more common in artists, architects, and athletes. How does being left-handed affect a person's life? Not everything is known, butsome interesting facts have already been uncovered. Twins have an interestingconnection to left.handedness because one is usually born with the trait. In some countries, left-handed childrenhave been forced to change to using their right hands. In the past, left-handedness was often considered evil since it was connected with the devil, who was almost always portrayed as being left-handed. However, that is justpu rely 6)superstition. Today, the main 7)obstacle which lefties face is that the world is made forright-handed people. However, there are some products that have beencreated to make life easier for them. One of the most popular is left-handedscissors. There are also notepads, 8)can openers, kitchen knives, and evenwriting tools which are especially designed for lefties. It is a start, but what about 9)handshakes and buttons on shirts? Any leffy cantell you that sometimes life is not always right.
