Motherland lies at the bottom of my heart
Although it treated him very brutally in the past, Huang Gesheng has always remained a patrioL who truly loves his country. While visiting a friend, they happenecl to see a telpvised reportage broadcasting the Blue Sky and White Sun flag of the Kuomintang.Upon seeing the flag, all the Taiwanese guests who were seated in the room stood up, but Huang Gesheng remained seated.Later questioned about his mot.ives, he answered that the Five—star Red Flag was China's national flag.Invited by Mr.and Mrs.Chen, Huang Gesheng visited the United States a second time in July 1989 to hold a new exposition there.Mr.and Mrs.Chen were both members of the committee for the "200th Anniversary of Chinese Amving in Hawaii" and it was their intention to include a painting exhibition by Huang Gesheng iri the celebrations. His exhibition was therefore unveiled on October 1, the National day of the People's Republic of China. He was the first painter to hold an exhibition in the United States after the political unrest that happenecl in China in 1989.He was told that "the Tiananmen Square Incident" was reported 24 hours a day on American TV stations and that the government exaggeratecl it until it took monstrous proportions.Consequently, most Chinese living overseas didn't know the truth.
